I purchased the domain WhatIsThisThing.com in 2002, with the intent of building something very similar to what eventually became the popular subreddit /r/whatisthisthing/. Recently I've seen several video collections of /r/whatisthisthing/ listings along with the solutions. Jimmy Kimmel has so far done several videos using the WITT subject, many collections have been created in article form, and now there are even apps that will help identify mysterious objects. And so, a mere 20 years later, I finally put my domain to work doing the job it was born to do (sort of.)
Why Wordle?
In case anyone was curious as to what the popular game Wordle has to do with 'WhatIsThisThing' content, it's nothing. I had the idea to create a page for all things Wordle and I just stuck it on this site while I thought about a better place to put it. I didn't think it would ever get noticed. Well. . . I was wrong. It's gotten very popular. Go figure.
A library for any and all WhatIsThisThing related content collected from the many corners of the web.
But mostly, from /r/whatisthisthing/ .

NOTE: As of June 15th 2023, A two-day Reddit protest is set to continue indefinitely, with the website’s volunteer moderators saying they will maintain the social media site’s blackout unless its owners back down over new user fees. As of Wednesday [06-15-2023], more than 5,000 popular subreddits remained in private mode. That includes /r/whatisthisthing/ .
The search form below will not return any results at this time. I'm leaving the form here in case the blackout ends before I can get back to edit the page.
